The Social Security Switch to Electronic Payments

The Social Security Administration will be ending payments by check this year. Beneficiaries have until March 1 to make the switch to either direct deposit, or to the Direct Express Debit MasterCard. Individuals who do not inform the SSA of their preference will receive their payment via the Direct Express MasterCard.

To make the switch, call (800) 333-1795 or visit www.GoDirect.org. To switch to direct deposit, you will need the following information: your 12-digit federal benefit check number, the amount of your most recent federal benefit check, the financial institutions’s routing transit number, and your account number.

If you wish to discuss which method is best for you with an attorney, please call us at (858) 565-1392 #208.
