Disaster Preparedness Seminar

Are you a home care provider or caregiver for a person with disabilities?  On November 16, the County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services is providing a free seminar to train home care providers, caregivers, and facility administrators of people with disabilities on how to be prepared in case of a disaster. The seminar is on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at San Diego State University in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center. Information for home care providers and caregivers will be presented from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Information for facility administrators will be presented from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Special Event for Operation Family Caregiver

Please join Southern Caregiver Resource Center at a special event benefiting military families throughout Southern California on November 6, 2013. Southern Caregiver Resource Center started a new program called Operation Family Caregiver (formerly known as the Wounded Warrior Family Caregiver Outreach Program).  The program helps family caregivers of Veterans from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan who return home with traumatic brain injury (TBI) coupled with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In support of the program, we are hosting a very special event on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 4:30pm – 7pm at the Veterans Museum & Memorial Center in Balboa Park.  The event will bring together a number of high ranking military officers and personnel, elected officials, community leaders and media.  We will have a special video presentation from Congresswoman Susan Davis, and Jennifer Town, Director of the C5 Unit at the Naval Medical Center, will be one of our guest speakers.  There will also be a presentation from a young military family that will speak about the...

The roll out of the new health care program known as “Obamacare” begins in October, with enrollment from October 1, 2013 – March 31, 2014. This enrollment period is not to be confused with Medicare’s fall Open Enrollment which is October 15 – December 7, 2013. The beginning of any new federal program is an opportunity for confusion and for con artists to prey on consumers.
